Buick Regal GS Tops "10 Future Collector Cars Under $100,000" List

Each year, Hagerty Insurance releases a list of the top ten vehicles that they suspect will someday be collector's items amongst true auto enthusiasts. While the list is typically made up of the latest iterations of vehicles like the Camaro, Mustang, and GT-R, this year it featured a rather pleasant surprise, and in the number one spot no less, from American automaker, Buick.

Claiming that this "isn't your Grandpa's Buick,"1 the folks at Hagerty Insurance praised 2012 Buick Regal GS. There are a number of reasons for this decision, and Saint Johnsbury Buick GMC finds each one of them to be a fine selling point on their own. For instance, the group lauds its low starting MSRP in comparison to the rest of the list. For those of you who are unaware, that's about $32,535. And of course, the vehicle's performance more than speaks for itself. It packs a 2.0-liter, 4-cylinder engine under the hood that packs 270 horsepower and 295 lb.-ft. of torque.

While the powerful ponies that the Buick Regal GS unleashes are nice to dream about, they aren't actually the main reason why Hagerty Insurance thinks so highly of it. The real reason? That would be the fact that Buick has done with the Regal GS what few other automakers are still doing with their "sportier" vehicles today. And that's to include a six-speed manual transmission. Every real performance enthusiast knows how much fun a manual transmission adds, and the recent absence of them in performance-driven vehicles is simply unacceptable.
