SWEET MAKES FINAL BID FOR "KING OF THE ROAD" TITLE
BARRE, VT - Nick Sweet and the Saint J Auto race team head into the final points race at Thunder Road this Thursday trailing point leader Dave Pembroke by only 2 points in the hunt for his first Thunder Road Late Model Championship. The Barre native is in his third year driving in the Vermont track?s premier division, the local version of the American-Canadian Tour Late Model series. Not only is Sweet chasing Pembroke, he too is being followed closely by multi-time Champion Phil Scott, who sits 6 points back in 3rd.

BARRE, VT - Open up the Thunder Road file folder marked "fabulous" and drop in the scorecard of Friday night's Carquest Governor's Cup 100.
Barre's Nick Sweet won the race by two car-lengths after a door-to-door duel with Dave Pembroke that saw both drivers swap the lead repeatedly from the outset. Jamie Fisher ? racing in third place a few feet back and waiting for an opening that finally came with six laps left ? was the runner-up by a nose. Pembroke had to settle for third with Phil Scott fourth and Mike Bailey fifth.
SWEET INCHES CLOSER TO POINT LEAD
BARRE, VT - Nick Sweet drove the Saint J Auto #88 to third place Thursday night, his second podium finish in a row in the WDEV/Calkins Trophy dash at Thunder Road. He narrowed the points spread between he and point leader David Pembroke from 8 to 6 for the night, with 4 point-counting races remaining before the King of the Road title is crowned.

NICK SWEET, driver of the Saint J Auto #88, won his first career ACT Late Model Tour event at Thunder Road in the Merchants Bank 150. Nick will start his charge to a Thunder Road championship on Sunday, May 23rd as the Thunder Road Late Models open up Devil's Bowl Speedway with a 100 lap event. Then back at Thunder Road on Memorial Day Sunday for another 100 lap event... Then the regular season starts with the normal 50 lap weekly events.
